National Grid and Gallo Restaurants are once again flipping the switch on Electrify Lewiston — giving people a chance to inquire about going electric.
It will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Gallo Coal Fire Kitchen on 402 Center St., during the Upward Niagara Chamber’s Harvest and Hops festival. Gallo owner Michael Hibbard said the new time will change the event dynamic for the better.
“Center Street will be closed off from traffic,” Hibbard said. “We can park some EV’s directly on Center Street so more people can be interactive with the vehicles.”
It also falls during National Drive Electric Week, which runs from Sept. 22 to Oct. 1.
The event will feature Joe Cecconi Chrysler showing new EV models, PPR Energy solutions, Clean Communities of WNY, and the Tesla Owners Club of New York State.
Last year’s inaugural edition went well, as PPR energy was able to make some sales for installations, including from the Village of Lewiston for the EV charging stations in Academy Park and Lewiston Landing. Incentives from National Grid’s Electric Vehicle Make-Ready Program covered 61% of the costs for installing the four plugs.
Those interested in showing off their EV’s can register at www.drivelectricweek.org.
